KALLE JOHANSSON

Kalle Johansson, better known by his alias KMJ, is a self-taught artist from Umeå who has been active for about 10 years. He works primarily with abstract art and creates large paintings on wood fiberboard. His style is characterized by powerful color strokes combined with subtle details. By using a sander, he creates layers of color and texture that give his works unique patterns and depth. KMJ's art has recently been recognized with the Guldäpplet award, which celebrates his creative and innovative contribution to the contemporary art world.

The collection

The collection is a tribute to La Concha, the iconic mountain in Marbella. The mountain is captured through an elegant color palette of natural colors. Each artwork reveals a unique aspect of the mountain, from sun-kissed surfaces and dramatic shadows to golden sun reflections.

The inspiration for this collection is a combination of the Spanish sunny coast of Marbella with its warmth, light and elegance which has been a strong driving force in the creation and is visible through the feel of the works. With an abstract style, the golden glow of the sun and its warmth is a recurring theme that is reflected in different layers of color and structure. The warm and earthy tones combined with elements of deep and balanced shades make the works both blend in and stand out to be able to interact with both interior design and the surrounding environment.

The collection is created using a variety of materials and techniques. Acrylic and acrylate paint form the base, giving the works a soft and vibrant feel. In addition, oil pastels and spray paint have also been used to create depth and contrasting textures.

The works are painted on wood fiberboards where several layers of paint have been sanded down to highlight hidden patterns and layers. Each layer tells its own story, but together they form a whole that is experienced as both powerful and harmonious.
