La Concha is part of the series of 8 works by award-winning artist Kalle Johansson "Art by KMJ", uniquely created for Japandi Collection's "Art Selection".

In this work, the mountain emerges as a monumental backdrop, its majestic presence contrasting sharply with the vibrant and bright hues of the marina. The artist has delicately balanced the representational and the abstract by focusing on the perspective along the promenade and the surrounding buildings. The shadow of the mountain subtly emerges through carefully applied layers of water-based paint, creating a depth that is slowly revealed to the viewer.

The shape and texture of the buildings have been refined through a dynamic alternation between thick layers of golden tones and powerful, almost brutal strokes with the sander, until the wood fiberboard almost surrenders. This is where the artist's skill shines brightest, as he carefully chisels out the exteriors of the buildings through careful brushstrokes and the finely tuned Japanese putty tool.

Below the promenade, waves rise from the depths of the sea, and their sheer roar carries a lightness that lifts the entire scene. It is as if the living city, safe and vibrant, rests on this pulsating rhythm of water and light.
